In this session, you will learn how to upgrade your existing OEM environment using a two system out of place strategy.  We will go over the details of how TDS Telecom successfully migrated our existing OEM test and production environments into a single new 13c environment. During the migration our existing 12c environments and the…

Did you notice that many navigation apps can suggest you in real time to deviate from the initial route because of traffic or accidents? It's pretty cool right? You wanted to take 5th but there is an accident so your initial plan doesn't look so good anymore once you hit the road.Oracle 12c can do the…

Businesses today understand the need to upgrade, migrate, duplicate, and distribute the systems responsible for housing their most valuable data for security, performance, and reliability. These needs become problematic, especially for large datasets, when the systems must remain available for greater than 99% of the time due to business or compliance requirements. Oracle GoldenGate is…

Oracle Database 12c includes lots of new functionality, some of which streamline management, improve capacity utilization, and increase overall storage performance. If you’re ready to shrink your footprint and improve your application environments, storage optimization will be a key skill set. Join Oracle Database experts Jim Czuprynski, Zero Defect Computing, and Kevin Jernigan, Oracle, for…

Oracle Database Release 12cR1 introduced several new features for automatically tuning SQL statements with much less involvement from the Oracle DBA and applications developers. Oracle DBA and Oracle University instructor Jim Czuprynski will demonstrate how the combined feature sets of Adaptive Execution Plans (AEP), Automatic Re-Optimization (ARO), and SQL Plan Directives (SPDs) are at the…

12 Months of Database 12c - High Availability and Data Protection for All

Before Oracle introduced dual format memory architecture, it was very challenging to find the best approach to accelerate the performance of OLAP and OLTP in the same database. We witnessed two types of DBMS in the market, columnar oriented and row-major oriented. Columnar oriented DBMS is treated as a proven practice for traditional Data Warehouse, however the pure columnar format is not suited for the real time analytics demanding on high volume transactional data. The traditional row-major DBMS is suited for OLTP workloads, however to retrieve high performance analytics, it requires analytic indexes, such as Oracle bitmap indexes to achieve this goal. Additionally, the overhead of index maintenance is expensive and bitmap indexes are not recommended for high transactional tables. The new Oracle 12c In-Memory option brings the dual format memory structure into one single database. The mixed OLTAP solution combining with the rapid advancement of hardware system can bring the data processing to a dramatic fast speed and a much higher scalability.

IOUG is pleased to bring back the most popular session of the 2015 "12 Months of Oracle Database 12c" series for Round 2!

Join Oracle’s foremost Multitenant expert Patrick Wheeler, and Oracle guru Arup Nanda as they dig into the multitenant architecture, it simplifies consolidation and enables DBaaS, how it can have a significant on the cost of delivering database services, and how your regular activities--backup, recovery, data details guard, security, etc--will change after you change over to multitenant.
